    • Step 1: Building Vehicles

Q: What are the benefits and limitations of shorter wheelbases vs. longer wheelbases?
A: Choose the right wheelbase for your specific needs using the following wheelbase characteristics:
      • Shorter wheelbases are better suited for sharp turns and are easier to maneuver than longer wheelbases, making them ideal for city driving
      • Longer wheelbases provide a smoother ride and are generally more stable than shorter wheelbases, even at high speeds, making them ideal for highway driving
      • Long wheelbases also provide additional vehicle space for cargo or passengers (with medium or high roof heights)
      • Transit is available in 3 different lengths - Regular (130"), Long (148"), and Extended (148" plus extension). Click here for full specs.
Q: What are the differences between a wagon and a van?
A: The main difference between a wagon and a van is the presence of rear seating. Wagons have rear seats with second-row sliding windows in addition to third-row and rear fixed-glass windows. Vans have an optional second row and rear fixed-glass windows, but do not include seating. This makes wagons more suitable for passenger transport purposes, and vans more suitable for cargo or equipment.

*Van upfits are currently supported by Adrian Steel, Masterack, and Sortimo By Knapheide. Crew Van options are available through TransitWorks.

**Wagon mobility solutions are supported by TransitWorks.
Q: Can I configure an interior system upfit for a vehicle that has already been purchased?
A: If you have already purchased a Transit, ask your local dealer for the name of a local upfitter. The upfits on this website must be ordered through your dealer at the time your vehicle order is placed

      Step 2: Configuring Your Upfit

Q: Do I need to start each interior systems configuration with an interior systems package?
A: No, you do not need to start with an interior systems package, but it is recommended. There are a wide variety of vocational offerings. Partitions (bulkheads) are required for interior systems and Crew Van options.
Q: What kind of upfit packages and products are available on the Transit?
A: There are several vocation-specific interior systems available for most Transit configurations, namely General Contracting, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and Passenger Transport.
Q: How do I remove an upfit product from my configuration?
A: You can remove items by editing your configuration in the shopping cart. Click the check box(es) next to the item you would like to delete, then click UPDATE to remove.
Q: Why can't I add items from multiple suppliers to a vehicle configuration?
A: Each manufacturer's upfits and accessories are designed to fit perfectly within their own variety of products. The products of different manufacturers cannot be combined in an interior system upfit because they will not fit together properly.
Q: Can I add exterior upfits to my configuration?
A: Yes. However, the only available exterior upfit for the Transit is the ladder rack. Currently, Transit Wagon does not support any exterior assets.

      Step 3: Saving Configurations

Q: How do I save each vehicle configuration?
A: To save a vehicle configuration, click the "SAVE" icon next to the shopping cart. You will be prompted to name your configuration.

You can access saved configurations at a later date by clicking the "SAVED CONFIGURATIONS" link at the top right corner of the screen or under "My Configurations" in the Upfit Configurator Garage.
Q: Can I print out finished vehicle configurations?
A: Yes. You can print vehicle configurations on the Order Summary page - simply click the "PRINT" button.
Q: Can I share vehicle configurations via email or social media?
A: You can share vehicle configurations by clicking the "EMAIL" button in the Order Summary. For social media, click the "SHARE THIS" icon on the Products page to share with your desired social media outlet.
Q: How do I edit a saved vehicle configuration?
A: To edit a saved vehicle configuration, go to the "SAVED CONFIGURATIONS" link at the top right corner of the screen, or click on the "MY CONFIGURATIONS" tab in the Upfit Garage. Then, select the vehicle configuration you would like to edit and click "EDIT."
    • Q: How do I order a completed vehicle configuration?
A: Once you have placed an order for a Transit with your dealer, they will order your desired upfit configuration. The upfits will already be installed when your vehicle is delivered to the dealership.
Q: Can I make changes to the configuration once an order has been submitted?
A: If you have a change to your order, please contact your dealer.
Q: How long will it take to build a vehicle configuration?
A: Vehicle upfits have varying lead times based on volume and availability of parts. See your dealer for more specific timing.
    • Q: Can I use the Upfit Configurator on my tablet, in addition to my PC?
A: Yes. The Upfit Configurator website application is optimized for use on an iPad and Android tablets.
Q: Can I use the Upfit Configurator on my smart phone?
A: Although the Upfit Configurator website can be accessed via mobile device, it has not optimized for smartphone use. We recommend you use a PC or tablet instead.
Q: Is there a Upfit Configurator application I can download on my tablet or smart phone?
A: No, there is no need for a separate Upfit Configurator application. If you prefer using it on a mobile device, you can access the website using your preferred browser on your tablet.
Q: The images on my screen don't appear to be aligned. Is the site broken?
A: You probably need to adjust your browser settings. Make sure that you are running the most up-to-date version of Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Safari.

For Internet Explorer users, be sure to check the "Compatibility View" in the menu at the top of the browser.
